The senior class gift
A scholarship in memory of Andrea Morton ’10.
Support from the class of 2010, an inspired record participation rate of 32 percent, totaling $51,656, was augmented by matching funds from board member Caroleen Feeney ’86 and a gift from the family of a graduating senior, making a total contribution of $78,414.
A clinical health studies major with a minor in music, Morton passed away in April 2009 from a brief and sudden illness. She was a resident assistant and water safety instructor as well as a member of the PT Club, Women’s Chorale, and the indoor soccer team. She made dean’s list every semester and received numerous honors, including a Campus Life Award and the Peggy R. Williams Award for Academic and Community Leadership.
In presenting the gift to President Thomas Rochon and alumni trustee Amy Doonan Cronin ’82, senior class director of internal communications David Seidorf called his deceased classmate “a remarkably active, accomplished, and compassionate young woman.” In addition to the scholarship, the class of 2010 raised $26,758 for other allocations.
