The first-ever reunion of graduates of the Ithaca College Band and Wind Ensemble
The first-ever reunion of graduates of the Ithaca College Band and Wind Ensemble culminated in a free concert on June 19 at the James J. Whalen Center for Music. About 180 School of Music alumni presented a program, which was conducted by the seven living conductors. Among former IC music students are bandleader Les Brown, from Band of Renown fame, and Colonel George Howard, the first conductor of the U.S. Air Force Band. “The event gave returning alumni a chance to come together and perform music that has a special place in their lives,” said Mark Fonder, professor of music education and one of the reunion organizers.
