Miranda Kaye, an assistant professor of exercise and sport sciences at Ithaca College, was quoted in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle about how running can be used as an antidepressant. 
The article features Erin Johnson, a woman who suffers from manic depression and found that running is the best antidepressant for her.

“Physical activity has consistently been linked with improved self-esteem,” said Kaye.
“This self-enhancement perception is greatest in people with initially lower levels of self-perception.”
