IC in the Media

The U.K.’s Guardian recently featured cinema and photography professor Nicholas Muellner’s photo of local Taughannock Falls in an article. Muellner said he was visiting a friend when he took the picture of the falls and the people walking on the frozen, thin ice. He said at the time of the photo it was five degrees Fahrenheit. “The really strange thing about this picture, why I like it so much, is that my hands were shaking with the cold,” Muellner said. “As a result, the image has a slight blur. I went back two more times with my fancy medium-format camera to replicate the shot, but it never looked right. Everything that was wrong with this shot was what made it so good."
