Ken Kutler Retiring
Ken Kutler, director of intercollegiate athletics and recreational sports at Ithaca College, has announced his retirement effective June 28. An outside firm has been contracted to conduct a national search for his replacement.
Kutler is serving his 10th year in that position at Ithaca College, and his tenure has been marked by significant upgrades to the college's athletic facilities, tremendous advances in Title IX compliance, growth in fundraising initiatives, enhancements in the recruitment of student athletes, and expansion of the recreational sports program.
Kutler helped oversee the introduction of Ithaca's newest varsity sports for women—golf and sculling. The Athletics and Events Center opened in 2011, which includes the Glazer Arena, the aquatics pavilion, Higgins Stadium, and the Wheeler Tennis Courts. During Kutler's tenure, the department has seen significant renovations to Freeman Field, Kostrinsky Field, Carp Wood Field, the Ceracche Center office complex and weight room, and construction of the new Robert B. Tallman Rowing Center, which opened last fall. He is currently involved in planning and organizing renovations at the Hill Center.
