Since joining ABC 7 in Chicago in 1982, Alan Krashesky ’81 has won numerous regional Emmy Awards while establishing himself as a reporter and anchor in one of the country’s most competitive markets. In the last three decades, developments in technology have changed the way Krashesky and his colleagues gather and disseminate news. “We’re now faster, lighter, more versatile, and more cost efficient.”

TV journalists can do more; therefore, more is expected of them. One thing, though, will not change: “We still need to tell stories that impact people’s lives,” Krashesky said. “And we need to tell them well.”

Looking forward, Krashesky expects technology will continue influencing his business. “As long as people want to know what’s going on in their world and down their block, we’ll do well to make sure they can watch that news on whatever platform they desire, whenever they want to do so."
