Undergrads Present Research Nationally
Last year Ithaca College participated for the first time in the National Conference on Undergraduate Research, which began in 1987. This spring 25 IC students — 10 from the Park School, 12 from the H&S, and 1 each from HSHP and the Division of Interdisciplinary and International Programs — presented their research at NCUR’s annual gathering, held in April in La Crosse, Wisconsin. NCUR accepts about 2,000 out of some 3,000 submissions from students at 300 institutions.
IC was also selected to host the 2011 NCUR conference, which will bring some 2,000 scholars to campus from around the country. “[That will be] an opportunity for many more students from Ithaca College to participate because they won’t have to travel,” says Kathleen Rountree, IC provost and vice president for academic affairs, who is also currently treasurer of the NCUR board. “It will also bring students from all states to experience the Ithaca campus.”
