Recitalists Extraordinaire
Organist, opera singer coming to Whalen Center
The School of Music’s concert season of Recitalists Extraordinaire kicked off in September with cellist Zuill Bailey and pianist Awadagin Pratt. The spring will bring performances by organist Cameron Carpenter on March 26 and Ithaca native and opera singer Theodora Hanslowe on February 13. Carpenter was the first organist ever to be nominated for a Grammy Award for a solo album. He has been performing in public since age 13. Hanslowe, a mezzo-soprano who grew up in Ithaca and is an alumna of Cornell University, has performed in opera houses worldwide and this season is singing with the Metropolitan Opera and the Nashville Symphony.
