New AVP for Marketing Communications

Ithaca College has named Rachel Reuben the associate vice president for marketing communications. Reuben comes to IC from the State University of New York at New Paltz, where she spent 12 years managing a wide range of marketing and communications initiatives. As associate vice president, Reuben will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive marketing program that supports the College’s strategic goals. She began her new position in July.

“[Reuben] brings a tremendous amount of energy to this vital position, and her grasp of communication and marketing strategies, especially her expertise with social media, fits well with the marketing strengths of our institution,” said Eric Maguire, vice president for enrollment management.

During her 12-year tenure at New Paltz, Reuben applied her leadership skills to numerous marketing and communications efforts, including crisis management; coordinating print, web, and e-mail campaigns; implementing a new brand identity system; leading the college’s Creative Services Team; and redesigning the college’s websites. Working with the admission office, she developed an online community for prospective students that helped increase the acceptance rate among the highest selectivity group. Her efforts at New Paltz won her numerous honors, including the 2008 SUNY Council for University Advancement Award of Excellence for the best electronic communications and interactive media/social networking site.

“Ithaca College is on the forefront with its branding, communications, and social media initiatives, and I very much welcome the opportunity to lend my leadership skills to those forward-looking efforts,” says Reuben, who holds an M.B.A. in marketing and management and an undergraduate degree in organizational communication from New Paltz.
