Trio of Student-Athletes Crowned National Champions
The winter sports season on South Hill ended with a bang, as three student-athletes won a combined four national championships. Katherine Pitman ’17, DPT ’19, not only won the third national title of her career in the pole vault at the NCAA Indoor Championships; she also set the all-time Division III indoor record by clearing a height of 4.28 meters. Nickie Griesemer ’17, DPT ’19, won a pair of championships in the one- and three-meter springboard events. She scored 447.05 points in the one-meter and 516.30 in the three-meter to become the first-ever member of the women’s diving team to win a national championship.
Wrestler Ben Brisman ’20 took home the title at the 141-pound weight class at the NCAA championships. Brisman won the wrestling program’s 12th individual title when he beat top-seeded Brett Kaliner of Stevens Institute of Technology 10-7 in the championship match.
