Lauri Keegan, a faculty member in the Ithaca College School of Music who performs under the stage name of Cookie Coogan, will give a free concert of jazz vocals on Tuesday, April 1. Titled "My Heart and Other Foolish Things," the performance will begin at 8:15 p.m. in the Hockett Family Recital Hall in the James J. Whalen Center for Music.

Light in tone, the concert will feature many whimsical jazz standards originally performed by Dave Frishberg, Mose Allison, Helen Humes, and others. Assisting "Coogan" with the concert are fellow faculty member and guitarist Steve Brown, tenor saxophonist and senior music student Ben Smith, pianist Frank Stagnitta, and the a cappella vocal group Mo'Tone.

In addition to performing and teaching, Keegan directs the Ithaca College Vocal Jazz Ensemble. That group will participate in a free concert with Windjammer, Syracuse University's vocal jazz ensemble, on Sunday, March 30, in the coffeehouse in Phillips Hall. The performance will begin at 5:30 p.m. The College's vocal jazz ensemble will also give a free concert on Saturday, April 12, at 8:15 p.m. in Ford Hall in the Whalen Center.

More information on School of Music concerts is available at the School of Music website.
