The Ithaca College Gerontology Institute annual spring conference will provide up-to-date information for those who work with individuals who suffer from dementia.

The conference, "Meeting the Challenge of Dementia: Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders," will be held on Thursday, May 29, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. in the Emerson Suites, Phillips Hall. Experts will discuss

The keynote address will be delivered by Anton P. Porsteinsson, M.D., associate director of the University of Rochester program in neurobehavioral therapeutics. He will speak on "Trials, Tribulations, and Triumphs in Alzheimer's Disease: Where Are We Now and Where Are We Going?"

A recognized authority on the application of novel pharmacological agents for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, Porsteinsson is interested in both the cognitive losses and behavioral disturbances related to dementia. He has published widely in this field, and has contributed to numerous advisory and review committees.
