A limited number of VIP packages for the Ithaca Community Fireworks Show on Wednesday, July 2, are still available.

Fran Benedict, chair of the volunteer committee that organizes the fireworks show, says requests for VIP packages will be accepted through June 20.

The VIP area atop Ithaca College's South Hill campus provides an "up-close and personal" view of the fireworks show, plus a barbecue buffet and entertainment. Musical entertainment this year features the popular group "Sons of Pitches," plus clowns, magicians, face painting, and games for children throughout the evening, along with "Singing Sal's Variety Show."

VIP patrons also get a special pass for parking, an after-glow party, and a special exit route following the 56th annual fireworks show.

Chris Allinger of Q-Country (WQNY-FM, 103.7), Kevin English of Lite 97 (WYXL-FM, 97.3), and Abby Ginder of NewsCenter 10 will be hosts at the VIP area. This year's fireworks show will include a special salute to Cornell University and Ithaca College for their support of the fireworks shows, which began in 1947.

Information about the VIP packages may be obtained by contacting Fran Benedict at Tompkins Trust Company, 273-3210, no later than June 20.
