President Peggy R. Williams will deliver this month's talk as part of the recently inaugurated Enterprising Women series, sponsored by the Program Committee of the City Federation of Women's Organizations.
The public is invited to the Women's Community Building on Thursday, July 10, at 7:00 p.m., to hear President Williams describe the path that led her to become Ithaca College's first woman president in 1997.
"The goal of this series is to acquaint the community with notable local women and to encourage all women to reach their full potential," explains Karen Macier, newly elected president of the Board of Directors of the City Federation of Women's Organizations. "President Williams was a natural choice of speaker for several reasons. She is a trailblazer in the field of higher education. Additionally, through her participation in women's organizations, she has worked to inspire and provide a role model for all women."
President Williams says she is happy to participate. "Women who are in a position like mine need to take opportunities to share their stories and encourage others."
The Enterprising Women program will begin with dessert. There will be time after President Williams's talk for questions from the audience. A $10 donation is requested to further the WCB's mission of serving the needs of women and girls in the Ithaca area.
The Women's Community Building is located at the intersection of W. Seneca and N. Cayuga Streets in Ithaca. For further information, please call the WCB office at (607) 272-1247.
