Noted Ithaca singers, both alumni and employees of Ithaca College, will perform a concert to benefit the Community School of Music and Arts on Sunday, September 14, at 3:00 p.m. in the third floor auditorium of CSMA, 330 East State Street.
Graham '81 and Tina Stewart '83 will be featured in a concert of some of opera's best-loved arias and favorites from the big band era. At intermission, the audience will enjoy jazz standards as they sample gourmet desserts, coffees, and teas.
Metropolitan Opera national finalist Tina Stewart '83 performs opera classics, including Puccini's "Quando men vo" and Mozart's "Come Scoglio." Ms. Stewart has performed more than a dozen roles with opera companies that include Tri-Cities Opera, Aspen Opera Theater and Pittsburgh Opera. She collaborates with William Cowdery, musical director of the First Congregational Church and faculty member at Cornell.
Graham Stewart '81, MS '01, a local favorite for his roles with the Ithaca Opera and Hangar Theatre, adds his voice for a medley of songs by George and Ira Gershwin, then takes the spotlight with the Ageless Jazz Band directed by Nick Pauldine '86. He'll sing such favorites as "Fly Me to the Moon", "Angel Eyes" and "I Get a Kick Out of You." Syracuse-based jazz pianist Dave Solazzo and his trio entertain during intermission.
Tina is newly appointed as assistant director of admission for alumni and special programs.
Graham has been the director of alumni relations since 1999.
