The LGBT center's tobacco cessation and prevention initiative, designed to address disproportionate rates of smoking in sexual minority students at Ithaca College, was selected as a winner in the 10th annual National Health Information Awards.
The program recognizes the nation's best consumer health information programs and materials.
The project received a merit award for the category of total special health event program. The awards program is coordinated by the Health Information Resource Center, a national clearinghouse for consumer health information programs and materials.
The initiative was provided in part through funding from the Tompkins County Health Department Tobacco Control Coalition.
