Pianist Barry Snyder in Recital

Barry Snyder, a 33-year member of the piano faculty at the Eastman School of Music, will give a free guest solo recital at Ithaca College on Sunday, September 21. The performance will begin at 8:15 p.m. in the Hockett Family Recital Hall in the James J. Whalen Center for Music.

The program will include sonatas by Schubert, Prokofiev, and the Spanish baroque composer Soler. Lizst's arrangements of four Schubert songs and Brahms's "Variations on a Theme of Paganini" will round out the program.

Snyder has performed and given master classes in Asia, Australia, Europe, and South America. He has appeared in numerous festivals in venues including Seattle; Aspen; Vienna; Schwetzingen, Germany; Takefu, Japan; and Shenyang, China. Snyder has given solo performances with the Detroit, Houston, Atlanta, Montreal, Singapore, Krakow Radio/TV, Nagoya, and Japan philharmonic orchestras.

In 1966 he was a triple-prize winner in the Van Cliburn International Competition. His discography includes 32 solo, concerto, and chamber recordings on several labels.
