The past month has been terrible for American crows in Ithaca and the surrounding towns. Kevin McGowan and collaborators at the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology and SUNY Binghamton are studying the way West Nile virus is transmitted from mosquito to crow and from crow to crow.
To help with this study, all Tompkins County residents encountering a sick or dead crow are encouraged to contact McGowan as soon as possible. It is best if you leave the bird where you found it and researchers will come pick it up. Try McGowan by calling 254-2432 or 227-0491. Or contact Jim Kellam, 274-1086. Visit Kevin McGowan's website on crows for general information on the project
Thanks for your help
