Angus Godwin to Give Faculty Recital

Baritone Angus Godwin, a professor of music performance, will give a free recital on Sunday, November 9. The performance will begin at 4:00 p.m. in the Hockett Family Recital Hall in the Whalen Center. Godwin will be joined by pianist Diane Birr and soprano Lauralyn Kolb. Birr teaches piano at Ithaca College and Kolb is a voice teacher at Hamilton College.

The program will include Richard Crosby's Three Songs, Les Nuits d'Ete by Berlioz, Ravel's Don Quichotte à Dulcinée, and the Violetta/Germont duet from Verdi's La Traviata. Godwin will conclude with selected spirituals.

Godwin has performed as a soloist at Carnegie Hall and Town Hall in New York City. He has appeared in a number of concerts for children titled "Songs that Dance" with dancer Judith Janus. For 35 weeks he sang at Julius Monk's Plaza 9 in New York City's Plaza Hotel. His radio and television appearances include a performance on the Today Show. Under the aegis of Columbia Artists Management, Inc., he has given more than 300 solo recitals throughout the United States and Canada.

Godwin has been a member of the voice faculty at Ithaca College since 1969. He is a graduate of Capital University, the Juilliard School, and Columbia University.
