Patricia R. Zimmermann (cinema and photography) has published an essay entitled "Magical History Film and Video Bus Tour: The Florida Moving Image Archive" in the most recent issue of the prestigious international journal, the Moving Image: The Journal of the Association of Moving Image Archivists.

For the past four years, Zimmermann, a historian and theorist of film, video, and new media, has been engaged in consulting with the Florida Moving Image Archive in Miami, Florida. Each year, she works with the archive on collection assessment, and outreach, and delivers public lectures on Florida amateur film history at the museum and at the Miami International Film Festival.

The archive houses one of the largest collections of amateur and news film in North America. It has been internationally acclaimed as an innovator in revitalizing local history archival footage through imaginative outreach efforts, including a video program in the schools, archival exhibitions, and boat and bus tours of Miami. Narrated by a historian specializing in the history of South Florida, the tours contrast contemporary Miami with historical Miami as evidenced in the amateur film and newsreels screening on monitors.

Zimmermann also serves on the editorial board of the Moving Image.
