Ithaca College Professor of Physics Bruce Thompson will lead a discussion on the Elephant Seismic Project as our next guest at The Physics Café. The event will be held Tuesday, February 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Emerson Suites.
The project is a collaborative venture with Cornell University that's investigating the animals' use of seismic signals for communication.
The Physics Café is a campus-wide lecture series sponsored by the Physics Department. The idea behind it is to grab and hold the attention of science and non-science majors by offering talks on exciting and accessible current topics in physics, such as the time-warping properties of black holes or the exploration of planet Mars. The talks are presented in a café environment, where coffee is served and students and physicists can informally discuss new ideas.
This event is free and open to the public.
