Soprano Patrice Pastore, professor of music performance, and pianist Charis Dimaras, assistant professor of music performance, will give a free faculty recital at Ithaca College on Sunday, February 15. The performance also will feature a work written for Pastore by award-winning composer Pozzi Escot.
The event will begin at 4:00 p.m. in the Hockett Family Recital Hall in the James J. Whalen Center for Music. The program will include music by Crumb, Dallapiccola, Poulenc, and Prokofiev.
Pastore, a specialist in contemporary vocal music, has recorded on the Spectrum and Goldcrest labels and has performed with the Birch Creek Summer Festival, Cayuga Chamber Orchestra, and Ithaca Opera. She has taught at Clark University and the New England Conservatory of Music, and is a faculty member and performing artist at the Sessione Senese della Musica de l'Arte.
Dimaras has frequently performed as soloist with orchestras as well as in solo and chamber music concerts throughout Europe and the United States. He has appeared with the Greek National Symphony Orchestra, Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, and MAV Hungarian Symphony Orchestra. He won first prize in the Conferenza Musicale Mediterranea and top prize at the Palmo d'Oro International Chamber Music.
