Mara Alper, assistant professor in TV/Radio, will offer "Making Documentaries: An Introductory Workshop" for people in the IC community who want to learn about making short documentaries for educational or training purposes. It will take place Saturday, February 28, from 10:00 a.m. to noon in Park Hall.
This short introduction will include the basics of documentary styles and organization. Topics covered are: the documentary as storytelling, key preparatory questions, planning, shooting for the edit, and the editing process. Examples of effective documentaries will be screened.
This is offered in conjunction with a training session for the South Seneca Elementary School literacy project. Alper and her video production students will assist them in creating a documentary to help parents of young children foster literacy at home. Project Look Sharp served as liaison between South Seneca Elementary School and Alper.
RSVP by Wednesday, February 25, to malper@ithaca.edu. If you have questions, please contact Mara Alper at 4-1280 or by e-mail.
