Artist-in-Residence Nisma Zaman '92 will give a public presentation on Monday, March 1, 2004, at 4:00 p.m. in the Park Auditorium as part of the on-going Engaging Democracy and Troubling the Water Series. The presentation will be the Ithaca premiere of Peace by Peace: Women on the Frontlines, a feature-length film about women peace activists in ethnic conflict zones around the globe. All are welcome to attend.
Zaman began her career in educational television 10 years ago, working on the promotion and distribution of the PBS 10-part series, American Cinema (1994). She subsequently worked for such renowned documentary filmmakers as Jennifer Fox on American Love Story (1999), a critically-acclaimed series about an interracial family; and Tina DiFeliciantonio/Jane Wagner on Walk This Way (1998), about nine children's experiences of "difference" for USA Network's "Erase the Hate" campaign. Recently, Zaman served as line producer on Nickelodeon's Little Bill, a digital animation series for pre-schoolers created by Bill Cosby.
Zaman's own documentaries include A Peace of Cloth (2002), a kid-friendly video on a peace quilt created by children, and Beyond Black & White (1995), a 16mm film distributed by Women Make Movies exploring the complex identity issues of five mixed-race women.
