Students, faculty, and staff will have the opportunity to voice their support for critical state financial aid programs.
The Student Government Association, in conjunction with the College's Center for Student Leadership and Involvement, is providing postcards to send to New York lawmakers urging them to restore a proposed 33 percent cut in the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP). Such a cut would mean the loss of over $1.2 million in aid for students at Ithaca College.
The postcards will be available in the Campus Center lobby from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 4, and again on Thursday, March 18. Members of the Ithaca College community who are residents of New York are encouraged to fill out a postcard, which will then be sent by the College to the appropriate local legislator.
Using the theme "Bring TAP Back," Ithaca College is working with the Albany-based Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities to make Governor Pataki and members of the state legislature aware of the value of TAP in helping students and their families afford the costs of a college education.
More information on the awareness campaign is available at Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities.
