The Ithaca College Chamber Orchestra will bring its 2003-4 performance calendar to a close with a free concert on Wednesday, April 21.
The event will begin at 8:15 p.m. in Ford Hall in the Whalen Center. The program will feature Stravinsky's Pulcinella Suite, conducted by associate professor Jeffrey Grogan. Graduate conductors Elizabeth Swanson and Heidi Gilbert will conduct, respectively, von Weber's overture to Der Freischütz and Vaughan Williams' Norfolk Rhapsody.
Selected by audition, members of the Ithaca College Chamber Orchestra are the most advanced orchestral performers in the School of Music. In addition to concerts at Ithaca College, the group has recently toured Ireland, performed at New York University, and provided the accompaniment to the Ithaca College Theatre production of Mozart's Cosi fan Tutte.
Grogan, an associate professor of music performance in the School of Music, has served as conductor and music director of the Waco Symphony Youth Orchestra and assistant conductor of the Waco Symphony. He was also associate director of bands at Baylor University.
