IC Students Present at Research Conference

Six Ithaca College students presented their research at the Conference for Undergraduate Research in Communication at Rochester Institute of Technology on April 8, 2004.

The papers were selected by a blind-review committee and scheduled for presentation with research conducted by students from eight other colleges and universities. In order to be selected students had to present original research that aimed to make a direct contribution to knowledge in the field of communication. Student participation at the conference was sponsored by the Ithaca College Department of Speech Communication.

Two of the three all-conference awards given for best papers were awarded to Ithaca College students Tracy Portle and Alexa Kaiser.

The Ithaca College students, their majors, and the titles of their papers:

• Alexa Kaiser, Culture and Communication, "A Critical Analysis of Contemporary Disney Heroines"
• Tracy Portle, Speech Communication, "The Precautionary Principle and the Rhetoric of War"
• Maria Stefanova, OCLD, "Electronic Decision Support Systems (DSS):Their Role in Strategic Planning"
