The final two noontime colloquia deal with environmental and sustainability issues, with a focus on organizational planning and national policy.
"The Invention of the Environment in France: Two Case-Studies"
Florian Charvolin, visiting scholar, sociology
Tuesday, April 20: 12:10-1:00 p.m. Clark Lounge, Campus Center.
Florian Charvolin studies agenda setting in the development of environmental policy, and explores sources of the voicelessness people experience in environmental discourse and state technocracy. His book from this study was published in France in fall 2003 and is now translated into English.
"Sustainability and Organizational Planning" Sustainability Cafe 4
Gordon Rowland, organizational communication, learning, and design
Thursday, April 22, 12:10-1:00 p.m. Klingenstein Lounge, Campus Center.
Through a set of activities the workshop will examine some basic concepts of sustainability -- for example, systems thinking and interdependency -- and explore how those concepts are being applied and how they might be further applied in planning at Ithaca College.
This series of forums or "Sustainability Cafés" was undertaken to stimulate a campus dialogue about environmental, social, and economic sustainability, and was assisted by a grant from the H&S Ithaca Fund.
Everyone is welcome to attend these events.
