Steingraber's discussion topic will be "Building Materials and Environmental Health -- from Children's Playgrounds to the Corner Office."
All members of the campus community are welcome to attend. Plan to come and join in the discussion of this important environmental topic. Bring a bag lunch; light refreshments and beverages will be served.
That same evening, September 14, at 7:00 pm in the Emerson Suites, Steingraber, the author of the text selected for the First Year Reading Initiative, will be presenting a public lecture on "Living Downstream and the Legacy of Rachel Carson."
An internationally recognized expert on the environmental links to cancer and reproductive health, Steingraber holds a master's degree in English from Illinois State University and a doctorate in biology from the University of Michigan. Her background in both the arts and the sciences has earned her a reputation as an intermediary between scientists and environmental activists.
