Never Too Old for Gold

Each year in early June hundreds of senior citizens compete and participate in the Empire State Senior Games. These individuals whose ages range from 50 all the way to 90 and beyond, gather annually to share their enthusiasm in sports and fitness. One of the largest senior competitions in the country, the Empire State Senior Games offers the opportunity for people to engage in a wide range of events, exhibiting their dedication to lifelong health and wellness.

Produced by I. B. Productions, Never Too Old for Gold showcases the many athletes and competitions of the Empire State Senior Games. Among the events covered are track and field, swimming, archery, cycling, basketball, shuffleboard, volleyball, race walking, and many more.

Throughout the program, interviews with a variety of competitors illustrate the diversity of these senior athletes who dedicate many hours to achieve personal success throughout the competition. Their drive and determination, as well as their youthful outlook on life, inspirationally demonstrate that one is "never too old for gold."

This documentary was shot over a period of five days on the campus of the State University of New York at Cortland during June 2003.

Never Too Old for Gold is presented by WCNY-TV; Syracuse, and distributed nationally through American Public Television.
