Renowned marimbist and Ithaca College professor Gordon Stout will present a free marimba recital on Monday, March 14, at 8:15 pm, in the Hockett Family Recital Hall.

Stout will be assisted by several of his students, including the Ithaca College Marimba Ragtime Band. The program will include a movement originally for solo violin by J. S. Bach, a suite by Red Norvo, a work for marimba and tape entitled Fertility Rites by Hatzis, and several works by the performer, who is also an accomplished composer. The Stout works will include Wood That Sings, Beads of Glass, and Skylark Orange Circles.

Stout has recorded for Resonator Records, including solo albums, and collaborations with Brian Bowman, David Craighead, the Eastman Marimba Band, and Michael Burritt. He is a frequent lecturer and recitalist at international conventions of the Percussive Arts Society, and has adjudicated international marimba competitions.
