Craig Cummings and David Pacun of the School of Music theory faculty read papers at the 20th annual meeting of the New England Conference of Music Theorists at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Based upon research into sketch material housed at Ithaca College, Cummings discussed compositional techniques in two chamber works by Karel Husa. Pacun spoke on aspects of internal phrase construction and design in variation sets of Beethoven and Brahms.
