The Career Services office is pleased to announce that Mark Darwak ’05, an integrated marketing communications major, has been selected as the 2005 Passport to Your Future grand prize winner and is the recipient of a free laptop computer.

Designed to help facilitate career awareness, the Passport to Your Future program encourages participants to actively participate in professional development opportunities. For each event, class presentation, or appointment a student had during the year, she or he became eligible for monthly prize drawings ranging from a Palm Zire (PDA) to IC bookstore gift certificates. Participants were also eligible for a year-end grand prize of a FREE laptop computer, cosponsored by the Office of Alumni Relations.

Throughout the 2004-2005 academic year, 1,207 students were enrolled in the passport program. This represents a 19% increase over the 2003-2004 academic year.

In just two short years, the Passport to Your Future program has resulted in a 75% increase in student involvement with the career services program at Ithaca College. More than 6,342 student contacts were completed prior to this year’s grand prize drawing on April 22.

Passport grand prize winner Mark Darwak commented:

“Career Services offers Ithaca College students so many benefits. It’s fantastic the Passport Program provides opportunities for students to be rewarded for taking advantage of such services. As a senior, having met with John Bradac several times (our November 16th appointment was the winning entry), going to the Networking 101 panel ,and participating in Network Nights in New York City, each function has aided my career process. The neat thing about it is each Career Services event gave me additional chances with the passport program.

"As a student with cerebral palsy, I use a laptop constantly, from taking notes in class to even simple personal tasks. Mine has been through a lot since freshman year. Receiving a new laptop at this time means a lot to me. I am deeply appreciative of Career Services and the Ithaca College Alumni Association for this new laptop. Thanks!”
