Congratulations to Chris Sperry, director of curriculum and staff development at Ithaca College’s media literacy outreach program Project Look Sharp. On Tuesday night at a gala awards ceremony in Washington, DC, FCC commissioner Michael Copps and national PTA president-elect Anna Weselak presented Chris with Cable's Leaders in Learning Award in the category of media literacy.
Cable in the Classroom, the cable industry's nonprofit education foundation, is recognizing the “most innovative examples of education leadership in the nation” with their Leaders in Learning Awards. Chris’ award was given for his achievement in advancing media literacy skills, as he has demonstrated through Project Look Sharp’s development of multimedia materials to help teachers integrate media literacy throughout the core curriculum.
