New Associate Director at the Office of Public Safety

After a long application and interview process, William D. Ferguson has been named associate director of the Ithaca College Office of Public Safety (OPS)

Bill worked for Syracuse University Department of Public Safety from 2000 to 2005. He held the positions of captain - chief of patrol operations; interim director of public safety, and finally deputy director of public safety from 2002 to 2005. Prior to his employment at Syracuse , Bill was employed by the Town of DeWitt police department from 1974 to 2000 where he rose through the ranks to serving as deputy chief of police from 1998 to 2000, when he retired.

Bill has been active in several campus law enforcement professional organizations and has experience teaching at several central New York police academies. He has also served on Syracuse University's Parking Advisory Committee.

He holds a masters of arts degree in public administration from Syracuse University, a bachelor of music education degree from Murray State University and a degree in administration of justice from Onondaga Community College.

Bill began his associate director duties at OPS on Monday, July 18, 2005.
