"Walking point -- what does that mean?" The web site for the First-Year Reading Initiative, www.ithaca.edu/fyri, now has links to resources selected to help you read and understand this year's book.
The "webliography" provides linkes to dictionaries of military jargon, maps and chronologies, comments by O'Brien himself, critical and popular reviews of the book, as well as more extensive published sources on his book and its background. I've structured it to encourage critical reading and use of "beyond-Google" academic resources available to the College community. Note also that the library has a copy of the complete audiobook, and a Spanish-language edition. Suggestions for additional resources are welcomed: thanks to Michael Faber, Michael Smith, Allison Stokes, and Project Look Sharp for suggestions received so far.
