On Friday, August 19, Ithaca College’s environmental health and safety group (EH&S) will be partnering with the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control (OFPC) to provide “live” fire extinguisher training.
This session is for any employee who would like to learn how to use an extinguisher before a fire emergency occurs. The training includes a brief classroom session followed by hands-on training where students will actually use an extinguisher to put out a real fire.
Please note that the majority of employees of Ithaca College are not required to use a fire extinguisher as part of their job. The training is merely to familiarize interested employees with the basics of fire extinguisher operation.
The sessions begin at the Office of Public Safety in the Norman D. Wall Conference Room. The start times are shown below. End times will vary depending on group size. If you plan on coming to one of the sessions, please email Mike Lewis, [mailto:milewis@ithaca.edu], indicating what time you would like to attend.
Start times (meet at the public safety building):
