The Ithaca College theater arts management program will host a conference, The Business of Art, on Saturday, September 24, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Emerson Suites, Phillips Hall. Geared toward students from area high schools and colleges, the conference will feature theater professionals offering advice on careers in the entertainment industry.

The conference will focus on the academic and career needs of undergraduate students, offering them an experience that is not readily available in the classroom environment. By connecting students with professionals in the field, the conference will help students to better shape their career choices and allow them to make informed academic decisions.

Session topics will include, but are not limited to, Talent Agencies, Nonprofit Producing, Broadway Advertising, Regional Theater and Being Professional, Contract Negotiation, The Actor-Agent Relationship, Production Management, and Theater Facility Management. Presenters will be coming from New York City, Boston, Ithaca, and throughout the greater New York area.

The registration fee for the conference is $40 for Ithaca College students. Refreshments and lunch are included. Discounts are available to students at Ithaca High School.

Participation is limited. It is strongly recommended that students who wish to attend this conference reserve their place now.
