The Psychology Department's Humor Research Team was honored by the New England Psychological Association (NEPA) for presenting the best faculty-student poster at the recent annual convention of NEPA in New Haven, Connecticut on October 15.

The research involved how expectations that humor will be offensive affect responses to that humor. The research revealed that when people anticipate that jokes will be offensive, people treat them as being relatively inoffensive. The research was led by Prof. Barney Beins of the Psychology Department. The student co-authors included Joann Agnitti (2006), Sarah Yarmosky (2006), Heidi Lapham (2006), Amy Bubel (2005), Keri MacNaughton (2005), and Nicole Pashka (2005).
