Stephen Mosher, Sport Management and Media recently presented at the International Teacher Education and Social Justice Conference in Honolulu, Hawai'i.

Mosher's presentation, "A Critical Look at the Coaching for Character Movement: What Would Gulick Say?" offered an analysis of the strategies employed in several high school athetics programs aimed at fostering moral development. Mosher argued that almost all of these programs are decidedly behaviorist and concentrate on obedience rather than being constructivist and concentrating on democracy.

The conference was sposored by the Center for Anti-Oppressive Education, based in Washington, DC. More information on this organization and the ways in which they can help teacher educators may be found at the web site --http://antioppressiveeducation.org/
