11/03/05

Contributed by Erik Kibelsbeck

Composer Richard Hundley will coach Ithaca College School of Music vocal and piano majors on sixteen of his compositions, which will be performed Tuesday, November 8 at 8:15 p.m. in the Hockett Family Recital Hall. The event is free and all are welcome.

American composer Richard Hundley is best known for his many concert songs, now performed by several generations of artists. His works have been performed by Frederica von Stade, Marilyn Horne, Renee Fleming, Jennifer Larmore, and William Warfield. Hundley is one of only twelve composers recognized as a “standard American composer for vocalists” by the International American Music Competition sponsored by Carnegie Hall and the Rockefeller Foundation. In April 1999, Hundley was honored by the Joy in Singing Foundation with an evening of 29 of the composer’s songs.
