Ithaca College Peer Volunteer Corps is looking for 3-5 faculty or
staff who are willing to help with this year's Alternative Spring
Break program.
We are working to expand the program to accomodate all
64 students who volunteered to give up their traditional spring break
in favor of a week of community service in areas around the country.
Specifically, we are looking to bring three college vehicles to areas
affected by Hurricane Katrina, but we need your help as van drivers
and chaperones in order to make this possible. This is an incredible
way to help your community and to collaborate with students in a way
that is truly impactful.
Responsibilities include
- sharing driving with one other faculty, staff, or student driver in a
college vehicle with eight student passengers;
- working with students on development projects for sites in hurricane-
affected areas;
- staying with students in church lodgings. (Please note that these
won't be glamorous.)
Please contact Brian Dashew, Alternative Spring Break student
coordinator, at [mailto:bdashew1@ithaca.edu] if you are interested.
