There has been a very successful ongoing speaker series at Longview, a residential facility for older adults located across from campus, since the facility's partnership with IC began in spring 1999.
There is currently a need for faculty and/or staff volunteers for these informal monthly talks. The topics can be academic in nature, related to areas of personal interest, hobbies, or travel experiences. Poetry readings, slide shows, and music performances are also welcome. An appreciative audience is guaranteed!
These talks are generally held on Thursday evenings from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m., although it is sometimes possible to schedule a presentation during the afternoon on certain Thursdays.
There is actually an immediate opening for a speaker on Thursday, January 19th from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. If anyone is able to do this on short notice, that would be greatly appreciated! Openings for talks during the rest of the semester and into the summer are flexible as to date and time.
