Brian Martinson, the Executive Assistant to the Vice President for Finance and Administration will be leaving Ithaca College this spring to open an Edward Jones financial services office in the Ithaca area.
Brian joined Ithaca College in 2001 as the Assistant Director of Employment and Employee Relations in the Office of Human Resources. Since January of 2004 he has worked in the Office of the Vice President for Finance and Administration. Brian's involvement at Ithaca College included serving as a member of the Diversity Awareness Committee, as a trainer and member of the NCBI steering committee, an officer of the Ithaca College Toastmasters, President of the Society for Human Resource Management of Tompkins County and representative to the State SHRM Council. He has served on the Planning and Priorities Committee and Sustainability Subcommittee. He also represented the College on the World of Skills Steering Committee and the Tompkins County Planning Advisory Board.
Brian has been interested in helping people with financial planning, tax and investing for the past 10 years. He received an MBA degree in 1999 and worked as a private investor from 1999 to 2001. He is an Enrolled Agent, enrolled to practice before the IRS, and has recently passed the NASD Series 7 and Series 66 securities licensing exams. He will be joining Edward Jones as an Investment Representative and working to establish a branch office in the East Hill area. Edward Jones is a leading full service brokerage firm with a unique model of having one-person offices located in neighborhoods in small to medium size cities across the country. Edward Jones has been on the 100 Best Companies to Work for in America list seven out of the past eight years and was number one for two years in a row.
Brian's last day at Ithaca College will be on March 3, 2006.
