The sixth annual observance of National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day is February 7, 2006. National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NBHAAD) is a national effort to increase awareness, participation and support for HIV prevention, care, and treatment among African Americans.
The observance is designed to encourage African Americans across the United States to “get educated, get tested, get involved and get treated.” The initiative also seeks to increase reporting of accurate up-to-date statistics on the HIV/AIDS epidemic among African Americans by electronic and print media.
