Enhance your understanding and enjoyment of Ithaca College’s production of The Merry Widow by attending a pre-show talk on Wednesday, February 22 at 7 p.m. in the theatre lobby of Dillingham Center.
The pre-show talk will be given by The Merry Widow assistant director R.B. Schlather, an IC sophomore with extensive opera experience, including work with Glimmerglass Opera and IC’s production of The Consul last season. Pre-show talks illuminate both newcomers and those more familiar with opera by giving insight to the piece and helping audience members understand directorial choices. R.B. will lead an engaging discussion, give background information on the production and allow plenty of opportunities for questions.
The Merry Widow is a collaboration between the Ithaca College Departments of Music and Theatre Arts and guest director David Lefkowich, whose lively production is set in mid 20th-century Paris. A birthday party for the ruler of the imaginary land of Pontevedro is in full swing. Wealthy Anna has several suitors, but through clever manipulation she wins the attention of one special count.
The pre-show talk is free. Tickets to The Merry Widow can be purchased by calling 274-3224 or visiting the Dillingham Center box office. Remaining performances are:
Saturday, February 18, 8 p.m.
Sunday, February 19, 2 p.m.
