Two free choral concerts will take place in Ithaca College’s Ford Hall; the first will feature the Choir and Women’s Chorale on Sunday, February 26 at 3:00 p.m. and the second, given by the Chorus and Madrigal Singers will be on Monday, February 27 at 8:15 p.m. Janet Galván and Elizabeth Swanson will share the conducting on both concerts.
On Sunday, the Women’s Chorale will present Persichetti’s “Winter Cantata,” accompanied by flutist Beth Golden and marimbist Yu-Tzu Huang. The Choir’s program is entitled “Anguish, Romance, Despair, and Hope: Expressions Through Poetry,” and features music of Ticheli, Mechem, and Castelnuovo-Tedesco. They will be assisted by guitarist Pablo Cohen.
Monday’s concert will offer music by Victoria, Whitacre, and Stravinsky, along with Ithacan Steven Stucky performed by the Madrigal Singers. The Chorus’s program is entitled “Reverence in Many Voices” and features sacred music in Latin, Russian, and Hebrew by Bernstein, Klebanow, Golavanov, and Fanshawe.
