Jason D. Ham will present a free recital on the euphonium in Ford Hall at Ithaca College on Saturday, March 25, at 2:00 p.m. Hanako Yamagata will collaborate on piano. The program includes a classical sonata by Marcello along with more recent works by such composers as Reeman, Ellerby, and others. This concert was postponed earlier in the season due to illness.

Currently in his third year as a member of the United States Military Academy Band at West Point, New York, Ham has quickly established himself as one of America's most active euphonium soloists. He was the 2001 winner of the International Tuba and Euphonium Conference (ITEC) Solo Euphonium Artist Competition, held that year in Lahti, Finland.

A Yamaha Performing Artist, Ham is increasingly being recognized as a pioneer on the euphonium, having already taken the instrument to many locations that have never seen the euphonium in a solo role. In October, 2004, he was the first-ever euphonium player to appear as a soloist with the People's Liberation Army Band of China. A few months later, in July, 2005, Ham presented the first-ever euphonium recitals in Bulgaria and Macedonia. During these trips, his performances were heard and seen on Beijing Public Television, Bulgarian National Radio, and Macedonian Public Television.
