A new A&E Center surged a giant step closer thanks to a $10 million lead gift announced by President Peggy Williams during Alumni Weekend.

The gift comes from two foundations affiliated with Ithaca College trustee Caroleen Feeney ’86. The amount comes in three components: $1 million from the French American Charitable Trust (a Feeney family foundation), a $5 million outright gift from The Atlantic Philanthropies (founded by Caroleen’s father, Charles Feeney), and an additional $4 million challenge grant from The Atlantic Philanthropies.

Providing a new A&E facility has long been a goal of the College. The new center will benefit the entire campus community by:

* Providing practice and competition facilities for athletic programs,
* Serving as a large multipurpose venue where the campus can gather for events,
* Offering opportunities for innovative active-learning partnerships with IC’s academic programs, such as sport
media, broadcasting and athletic training.

Though there is still much work to be done to complete the fundraising, thanks to this generous gift, we can finally say this critical project will be a reality! For more information and renderings of the stunning concept designs of the new facility, see https://www.ithaca.edu/aecenter.
