Speech-Language Pathology graduate students Nicole Sgobbo (MS '01) and Anne Coleman (MS '01) participated in a collaborative research project with the occupational therapy program at the Medical School of Ohio.
The study is the second in a series that has demonstrated interactive neural networking between speech and hand movement activities. The paper titled "Self-Speech-Induced Facilitation of Simple Reaching Movements in Persons with Stroke" was published in the American Journal of Occupational Therapy, March 2006. Faculty co-authors included Professor Kal M. Telage of Ithaca College and Associate Professors Kinsuk Maitra and Martin Rice of the Medical School of Ohio.
